Mist Technology
How does it Work?
The perfect water mist fire suppression system for you family home, development project or commercial property?
Our water mist system complies with British Standards and is a fixed fire protection system that discharges a fine spray of small water droplets. It propels water through a specially designed nozzle, breaking up the water into hundreds of microdroplets that form the mist.
In case of a fire, the water droplets will displace oxygen from the affected area and remove heat, resulting in the fire being extinguished. The mist reduces the radiated heat, lowers the temperature, and reduces the oxygen concentration to the extent that combustion can no longer be maintained.
Water Mist vs Sprinkler
An education of the high-pressure water mist technology as a credited fire protection system throughout the residential and domestic sector is here.
Mandatory Fire Suppression
Building Regulations in Approved Document B has reduced the trigger height for sprinklers and water mist systems, making fire suppression mandatory for a wider range of properties.
We Pass the Test
We meet the performance requirements of BS:8458 Residential Water Mist Standards and against performance fire tests of BS:9252 Sprinkler Standards.
'Open Plan' Design
Regard for compartmentalisation and protection of fire escape routes need not inhibit an Architect's or property owner's desire to create open, flexible living space.
Differences
Water Mist Systems and Sprinklers
So what are the differences between water mist suppression systems and sprinkler systems?
- Compared to sprinkler systems, a premium water mist system discharges 80% less water.
- Since less water is used, damage and clean up to property is considerably less with water mist suppression.
- The total surface area of the average water mist droplet is at least 1000 times smaller than the volume of water from a sprinkler system, promising more effective suppression.
- Because sprinklers require a considerable amount of water, a pump house or a large tank is required, a water mist system doesnt use any tanks and they take the feed, direct from the mains coming into the property.
- Water mist allows for “smoke washing,” meaning it causes the smoke particles to descend to the floor, attaching to the mist droplets, preventing the smoke from further spreading throughout the building.

Are you looking for a water mist system that doesn’t negatively impact the aesthetics of your family home, development project or commercial property?
In the absence of a generalized installation and design standard, whether water mist fire suppression is suitable for your building in Manchester and the North, depends on a variety of factors like the insurer’s requirements, appliances safety, ventilation and room size.
To find out whether a proposed system will meet fire protection objectives, domestic water mist systems should be considered on a case-by-case basis. The supplier needs to state these objectives very clearly.
